I think you are right about the i-vtec.

The S80 is low enough - the 5th gear is even too low

The k20 also has the rotating inlet cam which allows it to advance/retard the intake which is controlled by the hondata ecu. Think that's the i in i-vtec

yeah your right it does come in at 4,700 then cam change at 6k. I've got hondata kpro now so full i-vtec comes in together at 3,500 You could get the dc2 engine and lower the final drive in the standard s80 so it provides more equivilant torque

Come to think about it - DC5 engine has runners to. But the short tubes engage at aprox 4700 rpms - maybe you can hear it

The inlet manifold in MB6 has two different sets of tubes - referred to as runners. At 5.800 rpms it switches from long curvy tubes, which gives torque, to short straight tubes, which i great for effect. It is called a butterfly inlet I don't think that is a official name

The Integra engine only has straight short tubes which means that the MB6 engine (B18c4) has more bottom and midrange torque. I am not sure if it is that big of a deal - especially because the ITR gearbox (S80) is much more close ratio than the MB6 box(S9B). But i don't rev it high on every drive, so I am afraid I would miss the torque

    Sorry for the long post

I love it too - and had no choice - I needed five doors and the capability to carry a pram.
I'm afraid I will miss the torque from the butterfly inlet, do you have any experience with that?

I used to love my vti MB6! They go really well and people just dont expect it LOL

Maybe a better option buying a dc2 b18 with gearbox as it will just drop straight in!

No swap at the moment. It's a Civic 1,8 VTI (MB6) and the gearbox bearings are worn, so I am considering a gearbox from the Integra Type-R (DC2) but with a longer 5th.

On the other hand maybe this might is the right time for a K-swap
